PF Workshops in a New Format

It’s been a while since I’ve updated this blog and thought this was a good time to update everyone.

As you may of seen from the home page, I’ve changed PF Workshops to training workshops for organizations, companies and groups instead of staging the workshops myself. Trying to juggle my increasingly crazy production schedule and organize workshops was overwhelming. I wanted to simplify things – which is to me is always a good thing.

In addition to these training workshops, I’ll be teaching again at the Maine Media Workshops this summer – but not video!   Week one will be TIMELAPSE PHOTOGRAPHY and week two will be REAL WORLD PHOTOJOURNALISM.  I love going to Maine each summer, the people at the Workshops are great and so is the lobster.

This fall, I’ll be teaching an entry level digital photojournalism class the University of Hawaii Maui College, Molokai.  The small campus has a very modern high-tech facility.  Should be fun and the commute is easy.

I’ve formed a new production agency, Bentley|Stephenson with Rob Stephenson.  It’s nice to have someone doing the business end of our job – something us photojournalists, videojournalists and documentary filmmakers are not usually good at.  The agency is busy with more projects on the horizon – I’ve actually had to hire on an edit and production assistant.  Rob also organizes the shooting schedules, so I can just arrive and concentrate on the shoot.  Thankfully, I did not have to shoot Rob’s fabulous New Years Eve wedding at the Hotel Molokai a couple months ago!  It was quite the island blast.

I’m also editing and shooting for Specialized Bikes and working with a former student and workshop legacy TA extraordinaire, Aaron Vogel – who is now my boss at Specialized!  Be careful who you teach, they may come back and haunt (and hire) you. LOL

Looking forward to my once a year journey to Las Vegas for NAB in April this year.  Big changes and advancements in the gear/software world coming in the months ahead – an exciting time. If your coming to NAB, be sure to get your ticket to the best night of the show – the annual LAFCPUG Super Meet.  Early bird tickets are just $10 and it’s the place to be if you’re a video editor/shooter – especially if you use Final Cut Pro.

And if your in the Anchorage area on April 27th, I’ll be speaking at the Atwood Concert Hall at 7:30pm.

A successful and productive 2011 for all of us!
